Who we are

Aresset Ltd, Silk Road, Macclesfield. Contact ledger@aresset.co. You can complain to us on the complaints page, and you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

What we collect

Account details (name, email), the tenancy records you and the other party append, certificate dates, rent amounts, repair times, and message text about that home. Inventory photos, repair photos, and certificate PDFs are kept in private file storage. The ledger stores the file hash and path, not the file itself. Right to Rent is stored as a pass or fail, a follow-up date, and a hash of the check document. The identity document is not uploaded. Do not put passport numbers or National Insurance numbers in the ledger. We also keep technical logs (IP, browser, session cookies) needed to sign you in.

Why we use it

The tenancy file is kept so both parties have the same record of rent, repairs, deposits, and messages. A status is calculated from those dates: rent against the due date, deposit protection, the latest certificate, and, for an emergency or hazardous repair, the time from report to made-safe. You cannot type the status. The words on screen are “dates in order” or “dates to read”. They do not decide a let, and they do not say why a payment was late, including a delay in Universal Credit. We do not sell personal data, link a bank, or send rent to a credit reference agency. A marketplace listing shows the record only where you have published it.

Who can see it

A tenancy chain is visible to the landlord and the tenants on that tenancy. Your Right to Rent hash stays on your Aresset. We do not sell personal data. Email forwarded into a tenancy is stored only when the sender address belongs to someone on that tenancy. Other mail is rejected and not kept.

Your rights

You can download your ledger from the ledger page while you are signed in. You can erase message text and notes. The fact that an event happened, and the rent, repair, and certificate details, stay so the other party's record is not rewritten. You can close the account from the account page. Sign-in stops and published homes come off the marketplace. The shared ledger lines stay. You can ask us to correct something by appending a replacement event. Contact ledger@aresset.co.

Cookies

A sign-in cookie keeps the session. It is required for the account. A second cookie keeps the sample homes on or off. There is no advertising cookie. The notice on the site is a reminder, and you can dismiss it.

Retention

Message content and the personal detail of a tenancy file are removed six years after the tenancy ends, which matches the usual period for a contract claim in England. The hash chain remains so it is still possible to see that the file was not rewritten. Messages you send to us outside the ledger are kept for up to 24 months.

Processors

We use Supabase (Postgres, in London for production, with point-in-time recovery) for the ledger and for private file storage. Inbound email uses a processor only when that forwarding address is switched on. Contracts require appropriate safeguards for UK GDPR.
